ADHD doesn’t just impact one area of life. It’s a different way of thinking, moving, relating, and understanding the world.

This is where occupational therapy (OT) for ADHD really shines. OT looks at all the areas impacted by ADHD to come up with personalized and effective solutions.

Once you understand ADHD better and how to work with it, you’ll find it’s a friend and not an opponent to be conquered.

From Start to Finish, OT for ADHD offers Personalized Attention

Unfortunately, the strategies for learning and doing we typically get taught in schools don’t work well for those with ADHD. This often causes a lifelong struggle where individuals blame themselves instead of the faulty strategies they’re using.

Our services look to change that. We focus on approaching everyday situations in a way that works with – not against – the way ADHD brains are wired.

Our Process

  1. Free consultation Ensure we’re a good fit for your needs

  2. Evaluation Identify what to work on.

  3. Sessions  Personalized education, strategies and practice

Evaluation

A key component of occupational therapy services is the initial evaluation. We dive into areas of difficulty and look for underlying root causes for the challenges you’re seeing in daily life. This helps us select areas to target in our intervention sessions.

Sessions

When it comes to ADHD, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. We have an entire library of ADHD interventions and personalize each session based on your strengths, needs, and goals.

Your sessions could include:

  • Movement or balance activities to target wiring in the ADHD brain for improved attention, concentration, and coordination.

  • Personalized ADHD education and recommendations for client and parent empowerment.

  • Assistance with developing an in-home calming zone to reduce outbursts and overwhelm at home.

  • Setting up systems or organization strategies to stop losing, forgetting, or avoiding tasks.

  • Modifying and practicing skills like handwriting, typing, or med management without the frustration of trying methods designed for people without ADHD

  • Identifying and practicing sensory strategies for better self-regulation, attention, and enjoyment of daily life.

And so much more!

When you understand the ‘why’ behind ADHD, it opens so many exciting options for personalized interventions.

And once you learn what works, you reap the rewards for years to come as you refine and apply the same knowledge and strategies.
